28-year-old husband gets heated when his 25-year-old wife serves them and their 1-year-old son spaghetti for dinner: 'You know i don’t like spaghetti [why do we] we have to eat spaghetti once a month'

Emotions that had been simmering boiled over faster than a pot of water and harsh words were served when this 25-year-old woman told her 28-year-old husband that she was making them and their 1-year-old spaghetti for dinner. 

Someone here is a big baby, and it's not the 1-year-old.

Everyone has their preferences when it comes to food, and some might even have dietary requirements. The former, of course, carries a lot less weight than the latter, but there are always going to be those who can't handle a modicum of spice or really taste any amount of salt in a dish. Quirks are fine and everyone is entitled to their own, but when you're not cooking, there's a certain amount of degrees outside of your preference you just have to stomach.

The same goes for chores and labor of the household in general. If you aren't doing the tasks yourself, it stands to reason that if things are getting done, you shouldn't be complaining about how they're getting done. Of course, if someone is intentionally doing things poorly in a "weaponized incompetence" type of manner.

It would be one thing if this husband couldn't eat red sauce for a legitimate reason. But 28 years is a little old to be throwing your toys out of the cot because you don't like something that's being prepared for dinner. It's not like what's being offered is something completely out of left field, either. Spaghetti is kind of one of the de facto household meals of the modern family. 

Pasta with red sauce is about as plain as it gets, and at a certain point, when all is laid out on the (dinner) table, you have to wonder if pasta sauce is even really the issue here at all.

I love it my son loves it so i make it and if you want something else eat something else. i hate lasagna hated it my whole life my aunt growing up would use 80% of her

They can cook his own meal if he doesn't want what you're making. It is not your responsibility to cook his meals to his liking. Your son is learning how to be a man from this person. His views on how you should treat a wife and his views on what a partnership should look like our shaping how you're raising your son.

    CoDaDeyLove Two out of three people in the household love spaghetti. He can have a sandwich. My partner loves grilled mackeral and I hate it. He often cooks some just for himself and I make something else. I agree that this argument is rooted in something deeper. He wants everything his way and isn't being flexible. If you want to make spaghetti for yourself and your child, your fiance can fix something else. Even a peanut butter sandwich. He needs to grow up.
